Introduction to Cube Designer - Connections

The Cube Designer is an extension of Smart View and as such, it derives the connection information to the Essbase cloud via the Smart View private connections. During the installation of Cube Designer, you provide the URL to the Essbase cloud in the private connections panel of Smart View.

This list of private connections forms the basis of the possible Cube Designer connections.

1. Click the Connections button on the Cube Designer ribbon.

• Notice that the Cube Designer connection list is contained within the Smart View private connection list.

• Notice that the connections cannot be edited from within Cube Designer. They must be managed in Smart View.

The first time any operation which requires authentication is performed, the user will be asked to provide a username and password.

Note: Click the button on the Cube Designer ribbon with the server name to get more information about that server.
